Release 0.19.0
StyleX v0.19 introduces @stylexjs/atoms, a new package for inline atomic
styles that compile to the same output as stylex.create. This release also
adds ESLint 10 compatibility, expands shorthand autofixes, and includes fixes
for JSX sx, selector ordering, theme resolution, style sorting, and media
query parsing.
New @stylexjs/atoms package
@stylexjs/atoms gives you a concise way to write one-off atomic styles inline
while keeping the same StyleX compile-time guarantees.
import * as stylex from '@stylexjs/stylex';
import _ from '@stylexjs/atoms';
function Stack({ color, styles }) {
return (
<div
// syntactic sugar for `{...stylex.props()}`
sx={[
_.display.grid,
// Arbitrary strings can be used as values
_.gridTemplateColumns['1fr minmax(0, 3fr)'],
_.gap._12px,
// Dynamic values are supported too
_.color(color),
// Styles passed in as props can still be combined
styles,
]}
/>
);
}Static atoms use property access, such as _.display.flex, and dynamic atoms
use call syntax, such as _.color(color). Values that begin with a number can
be written with a leading underscore, and complex values can use computed
property syntax.
The package is not a new runtime styling system. The Babel plugin compiles atoms
away and emits the same atomic CSS rules as equivalent stylex.create styles,
so atoms deduplicate with existing StyleX styles and follow the same merge
semantics in stylex.props.
See the @stylexjs/atoms API docs for usage
details.
ESLint updates
StyleX v0.19 is compatible with ESLint 10.
The ESLint plugin also includes a new gap autofix when using
legacy-expand-shorthands style resolution. Single-value gap and flex
shorthands are now skipped by valid-shorthands, which avoids unnecessary
warnings for values that do not need to be expanded.
The textWrap validator now accepts the newer pretty and stable values.
Fixes and polish
- Fixed runtime
styleximport injection for the JSXsxprop. - Fixed selector ordering when pseudo-elements and pseudo-classes are combined.
- Fixed aliased theme file resolution so aliases expand to absolute paths.
- Fixed
sort-keysautofix ordering. - Fixed media type parenthesization in
andchains in the style value parser.
Thanks to everyone who contributed fixes, tested the new atoms package, and helped tighten the tooling around recent StyleX releases.
